Oakwood freshman Narella Beiersdorfer earned Southwestern Buckeye League Athlete of the Week honors after continuing an impressive start to her high school career.
Beiersdorfer has stepped into the No. 2 singles position for the Lumberjacks and owns a 7-1 overall record. She remains undefeated in SWBL competition and has yet to drop a game in league play.
Her early-season résumé also includes notable victories against opponents from Columbus Academy and Ursuline Academy.
Tyce Rutledge
Junior, Waynesville Football
Waynesville junior receiver Tyce Rutledge was named a Southwestern Buckeye League Athlete of the Week after turning in a standout two-way performance in the Spartans’ 52-13 victory over Hillsboro on Friday night.
Rutledge caught four passes for 123 yards and three touchdowns, averaging 30.8 yards per reception. He hauled in touchdown passes of 19, 60 and 34 yards from quarterback Gregory Marlow as Waynesville built a 45-6 halftime lead.
Rutledge also made an impact defensively, finishing with five tackles — including four solo stops — and three tackles for loss. He also forced a fumble.
The victory kept Waynesville unbeaten at 3-0. The Spartans have scored 100 points over their last two games after opening the season with a 20-17 victory over Clinton-Massie.
