Ashton Pelfrey

Carlisle senior Ashton Pelfrey earned Southwestern Buckeye League Athlete of the Week honors after another standout week on the track. Pelfrey recorded two first-place finishes in the 100-meter dash, along with a first and second-place finish in the 200. He also placed first and third in pole vault during his first season competing in the event. The Carlisle standout has won the 100 in all six meets he has competed in this season and has captured five of six 200-meter races. Pelfrey also serves as the anchor for Carlisle’s consistently strong 4x100 relay team.
Leigha Combs
Senior, Edgewood Softball
Edgewood High School senior pitcher Leigha Combs has been named the Southwestern Buckeye League Athlete of the Week after reaching a major milestone in the circle last week. Combs recorded her 300th career strikeout and now sits at 307 career strikeouts for the Cougars. The senior has put together her strongest season yet in 2026, totaling 85 strikeouts in 64.1 innings while posting a 3.699 ERA and helping lead Edgewood throughout the spring. A four-year contributor, Combs has appeared in 73 career games and logged more than 341 innings pitched during her career. She has also continued to show improvement each season, highlighted by allowing just one home run this year while recording seven complete games and two shutouts.
