JJ Vogel

Sophomore, Edgewood Football

Edgewood senior JJ Vogel has been named the Southwestern Buckeye League Athlete of the Week after turning in a big two-way performance in the Cougars’ 32-28 victory over Miamisburg. Vogel caught four passes for 140 yards and two touchdowns, averaging 35 yards per reception. He hauled in a 55-yard touchdown pass from Cayson Breedlove in the second quarter before the duo connected again when it mattered most. With Edgewood trailing 28-24 late in the fourth quarter, Vogel caught a 49-yard touchdown pass from Breedlove with 1 minute remaining to put the Cougars ahead for good. The victory was the first for Edgewood under first-year coach Matt Root. Vogel also made an impact defensively, finishing with five tackles, including three solo stops and one tackle for loss. His two touchdown catches accounted for 104 yards as Edgewood improved to 1-1.


Mady Koeninger

Junior, Ross Soccer

Ross junior forward Mady Koeninger has been named the Southwestern Buckeye League Athlete of the Week after helping the Rams continue their unbeaten start to the girls soccer season. Koeninger scored two goals in Ross’ 6-0 victory over Eaton on Aug. 25, then struck twice more two days later as the Rams defeated Franklin 3-0. She accounted for four goals across the two victories. Koeninger has five goals through three recorded appearances this season, already surpassing the four goals she scored as a sophomore. She has nine goals and six assists for 24 points in 11 career appearances listed by the SWBL. Ross entered the week 4-0 overall after sharing the SWBL Southwestern Division championship with Bellbrook last season. The Rams went 17-3-1 overall and 9-1 in league play in 2025.
